Feather Hackle - Black - 6 & 7 SCOTS (Regimental Hackle)

The black hackle is worn by 6 & 7 Battalions.

It is also worn by all members of the Regiment serving away from one of the regular Battalions. When this is the case this hackle is known as the Regimental hackle.

1 SCOTS and 5 SCOTS were initially granted permission to wear black hackle (similar to that worn by the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) and green hackle on formation of the Royal Regiment of Scotland. The hackles identify the battalion in which an officer or soldier is serving or last served.
